I played all the games in the Far Cry series. I really liked some of them, while others made me feel bored and despondent.
Go to exotic places. Enjoy the countryside. Behold the beautiful wildlife. And fight with enemies… with a lot of enemies! Here is a top-end shooter from Ubisoft – Far Cry, which needs no introduction.
Far Cry Vengeance
The only game on the list that deserves serious criticism is the exclusive remake of Far Cry Instincts for Wii. Let’s be honest – Vengeance was worthless. Like the ports of many other Wii games, it had interesting controls. But the ugly visual effects and stupid AI led to the fact that playing this part is perhaps the most unfortunate way to get to know the Far Cry series.

Far Cry Instincts
The exclusive port of the original Far Cry on the Xbox was forced to undergo a number of compromise solutions to appear on consoles. The main one is the rejection of sandbox elements, which is why the gameplay felt more linear than in the PC version. The result is still a good game, but with reduced capabilities.

Far Cry
The original Far Cry, developed by Crytek and published by Ubisoft, is radically different from what the series is today. The first game was about a soldier named Jack Carver, who was looking for a journalist on a mysterious island filled with mercenaries and bloodthirsty mutants – the products of evil experiments.

Far Cry 2
Far Cry 2 is both beloved and hated by many. Not everyone liked the controversial mechanics of weapon wear and malaria, because of which the gamer feels powerless in some aspects of the game. “Dirty” visual stylization, mediocre weapons and endless respawn of enemies are the drawbacks that make gamers reluctant to replay Far Cry 2. However, it’s worthwhile to pay tribute to the daring and bold plot, which will surely stand the test of time, even if all the other elements of the game sink into oblivion.
Release: 2008
Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows
Far Cry 5
The latter does not mean the best. But Far Cry 5 still gives you a grand pastime, if you do not pay attention to the “toothless” plot and the dubious mechanics of a progressive cooperative. Joseph Seed, with his crazy little family, is not standing next to Vaas or Pagan Min from the previous parts, but the occasional skirmishes that you can “run into” when exploring the world are some of the best in this part. And, of course, the fan’s favorite murder weapon is the spade.
Release: 2018
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows
Far Cry Primal
Primal has become an important game for the cycle. After more than a decade of running and shooting in different parts of the world, Far Cry might have seemed monotonous to someone. But Primal was completely different: it threw us back in time and made us … a caveman. Here we replaced a firearm with a spear and the car with a tamed mammoth.
Release: 2016
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
For all the fascination of the storyline, Far Cry is often to some extent trashy – but in a good way. And in Blood Dragon this thrashing peaked. Representing a selection of references to films of the 80s (as in Kung Fury) rather than a full story, Blood Dragon makes a cocktail of Terminator, RoboCop, Tron and Predator and creates something completely funny and … exciting!
Release: 2014
Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows
Far Cry 4
Inspired by India / Nepal, the Kingdom of Kirat has given us the most beautiful setting in the series. If you value FPS for the plot component, then Far Cry 4 is the perfect option for you. The main character Ajay Gale, who went home to fulfill his dying mother’s errand, evokes strong sympathy, and the story, although sometimes messy, is attractive. In addition, in Kirat, you will encounter one of the most striking villains in the series – Pagan Min.

Far Cry 3
What is real madness? The answer is given by the notorious pirate Vaas. The character that has become one of the most unforgettable antagonists in video games due to his psychopathic unpredictability and eloquence. Although the fourth and fifth parts improved small elements of the gameplay, Far Cry 3 at one time became a game that fixed the main shortcomings of the second part. Exciting shootouts, a fantastic open-world survival system – Far Cry 3 is struggling to balance crazy combat with an explosive storyline.
